Game 97 Recap - Cardinals @ Reds

Mikolas can't carry lacking offense, Reds take game three 3-2

The Cardinals have scored 19 runs in the past two games combined, so we knew they were going to return to their usual form sooner or later. Unfortunately that came tonight, when Miles Mikolas was dealing on the mound. The Cardinals held a one run lead until the 7th inning, where the Reds scored three runs on a Puig double and Josh VanMeter's first career home run. From there the Cardinals scored one more run in the 8th inning, but couldn't scratch one more across, falling 3-2.

The rest of the game went as follows:

• Matt Wieters tallied his 7th home run of the season.

• Miles Mikolas doubled in the 6th inning.

• Jose Iglesias made a ridiculous play in shallow left field to rob Tommy Edman of a hit.

• Luis Castillo only allowed one run in six innings of work.

• Michael Lorenzen recorded a six out save, only allowing one run.

• Tommy Edman recorded three hits.

The Cardinals will look to win the four game series tomorrow at 12:10 p.m. central time.
