Game 117 Recap - Cardinals vs Royals

Flaherty continues stretch of dominant starts, Cards shutout Royals 2-0

Well, not much happened this game. So this recap will probably be the most boring, vanilla thing you’ve ever read.

Jack Flaherty shoved it up the Royals buttocks, as Jon Lester would say. Flaherty just kept doing what he’s been doing for a month and a half and simply dominated the opponent

Flaherty pitched 7 shutout innings, surrendering 3 hits (2 coming in the 6th, which he escaped with a huge 1-6-3 double play), while striking out 7. Flaherty’s entire arsenal was on point tonight.

Glenn Sparkman would give up two early runs to the Cardinals, which was all they needed behind Flaherty tonight. They scored in the 1st without recording a hit. Dex led off, reaching base on an error from Cuthbert in the shift. He would advance to 2B on a balk from Sparkman, then moving to 3B on a ground out to the right side from Edman. Goldy then drove Dex in with a sac-fly to RF to make it 1-0.

Tommy Edman drove in the second run, driving in Thomas who reached base on an infield single. Edman would get caught in between 1st and 2nd base on the play, getting tagged out by Lopez, but not before Thomas scored to make it 2-0.

Miller (1.1IP) and Tsunami (0.2) finished out the contest, tossing the final two innings. Miller flashed some nasty front door sliders and Tsunami added his 13th save.

Dakota Hudson (10-6, 4.01) looks to complete the quick two-game sweep tomorrow evening, taking on Brad Keller (7-12, 4.09). First pitch from Kauffman Stadium 7:15pm c/t.

Cheers, Stew
