A Positive October - Day 10

Jose Martinez

If I can keep it up all month, 31 days of positive posts! There's going to be enough negativity going around with the Cardinals not in the post-season.

Day 10

These may end up getting shorter and shorter as I have less wonderful things to say about each individual that I go through in these pages. We shall see.

Jose Martinez this year was the only Cardinals' hitter other than Matt Carpenter that hit over 20% above league average, with a 125 wRC+. Martinez struck out at below a league average rate, just under 18%. He hit over .300 (.305) for the 2nd year in a row. He OBP'd over .360 for the second year in a row. He scored over 60 runs and drove in nearly 85 runs this year. He had over 45 extra base hits.

The coolest fact I found about J-Mart for this write-up is that he drove in 17.3% of base runners that were on base when he came to bat. That's a pretty good total consider Ozuna drove in just 15.7% of base runners on for him and DeJong only drove in 15.1% of base runners on for him and Carpenter only drove in 15.4% of base runners that were on for him.

Positive October Day 10, in the books!
