The Atlanta Braves have been one of the season's greatest surprises.
Leading the National League East over the Nationals, the Mets, and the Phillies (who are now just 2.5 back of the division leaders) was not supposed to happen yet.
And yet... here they are, youthful energy and all.
They enter the weekend series in St. Louis, though, just three games better than their hosts, after dropping back-to-back series against the Orioles and the Reds.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, left Milwaukee having salvaged a series split, then -- contrary to their norm -- actually carried some of that momentum home with them, to win the series against the visiting Cleveland Indians (including a game in which they chased COREY KLUBER before he finished the 2nd inning).
I don't get it, either.
So, rather than telling you what to expect when Julion Tehran faces off against Miles Mikolas, or when B̶r̶a̶n̶d̶o̶n̶ M̶c̶C̶a̶r̶t̶h̶y̶ Max Fried* takes on Luke Weaver, or when Mike Foltynewicz closes the series against John Gant, I brought in Nubjyas Wilborn -- reporter for the Marietta Daily Journal, contributor to The Athletic, and host of the Locked On Braves podcast -- to give us a proper introduction to this young, exciting, and determined team.
Without further ado, I give you the 2018 Atlanta Braves.
*Upon posting this preview, the Braves (naturally) countered with changes. Thankfully, our new friend Nubyjas was quick to help us sort them out.
